Description
An official release of Scythods, a custom creature I created from scratch about a year ago. They've become a part of Spearbreakers and Vanya's Journals, and are destined to be included in its sequel, but whether as friend or foe, I don't yet know.

Scythods resemble a praying mantis to an extent - they have four arching back legs that end in (very) long spikes made of scythod chitin (which is considerably tougher than normal chitin). Their brain is in a case in their lower body. They have two sets of arms - the lower arm with claws, the upper arm ending at the elbow in a long, pointed scythe (which is very sharp). The tip of each scythe can open, and can do so inside the body of a creature.
Scythods have no heads, but instead have a "neckstalk" that ends in a set of triple dentaries (think one half a of a snake's jaw, x3 in a triangular pattern).

Scythods are from a planet called Piscyth, which orbits around a brown dwarf. The close proximity to the star makes Piscyth very volcanic, with boulders often spewing into the air, a dense atmosphere, and occasional sandstorms. In a lightless world, scythods have evolved without eyes, and they rely on their hearing (extravision tag) to maneuver... which they do very well. They are somewhat behind as far as technology goes, but have developed a very strong governmental state. At the same time, they're constantly at war with others of their species. This is due to how little vegetation grows on Piscyth - they were forced to hunt to survive, and became very territorial and aggressive, developing their armscythes and claws. Their legspikes help them traverse rough terrain, but make it impossible for them to learn to swim.

This mod introduces them as a hostile race.
