Adds several varieties of drakes - inspired by the classical Western notion of dragons (complete with wings), but much smaller. These will eventually have representatives in all biomes.
Currently offered are:
- Red drakes - fire-breathers, found in deserts, savanna, and brushlands. About the size of a cat. Can only be trained for hunting, not war.
- Green drakes - about the same size, found in forests of all kinds (even cold taiga), they are nimble group hunters, very numerous, but without much else in the way of abilities. Easy to breed, they count as domestic animals (although since they don't live underground, dwarves might not have them at embark). Like the red drakes, they are too small to make effective war animals, but can still be trained for hunting.
- Black drakes - swamp dwellers, relatively small in numbers, about the size of dogs, with a paralytic bite, though too small to be too much of a threat to dwarf-sized creatures (hopefully).
- Blue drakes - found in all bodies of water but the coldest of oceans, they don't fly, but they swim quite well.
- Brown drakes - found in grasslands, savanna, and shrublands, they're a bit bigger than the above, a bit less common, a bit deadlier by virtue of their size, and fairly long-lived (up to 32 years), though otherwise not very remarkable.
Unless otherwise noted, all drakes yield usable leather, and can be tamed (without a dungeon master) and trained for hunting or war. They are all egg-layers. |
