A pack of largely unfriendly neighbors Greetings! Thanks for taking the time to check out/download the mod!
INTRODUCTION
What is this? Splint's Civs can be thought of as a spiritual successor of sorts to Fortress Defense II by darkflagrence, but rather than making civs by tier, they're more an assortment built around vanilla gameplay to enhance the amount of enemies and peoples you can encounter and have as visitors. Your worlds will be far more varied using the civs in this mod and a lot more dangerous to travel, simply due to the increase in hostile cultures. The vast majority bar one presently are hostile beings - thuggish brutes, goblinoids, criminals, evil dwarf cousins and hostile elves. They each have their own Readme file located in the marked folder. These will tell you what you need to know if you want a heads up or your internet goes out while using the mod. As far as graphics go, none are planned at this time due to the simple fact it'd take forever. If someone wants to step up to that plate though, more power to you! I'd be happy to implement them. The current civ list is as follows as of V0.1. Their relevant Readmes and the thread's second post will have more details, though it'll often just be a little blurb about them and some very basic information. EXTRAS
The extras folder has a set of languages in it for use with the planned biome-civs. it can be used out of the box, but presently nobody will speak those languages.It also has patches for Splint's Vanilla Expanded (SVE, found HERE) expanded the gear these civs have access to. Obviously you'll need SVE for those patches to work.
SUGGESTIONS
If you have any ideas for more simplistic civs, be they hostile, friendly or both, I'm all ears! I have plans to make an SVE-free version of my biome specific entities from that pack, as well as rat man, blendec and satyr-based ones as well. Note though that I'm keeping things simple for a reason here, as I'm not the best at complex castes or any kind of special interactions.
REGARDING OLDER VERSIONS
The basic entity files and creatures will work fine with pre-steam DF versions, so if you want to use them in 47.05, just pull them out of the folders and drop them into your install! That said you'll need to manually add any extras from SVE or other mods based on the v50+ modding system. |
