Title: Human Fortress — Playable, Upgraded Humans Description: This is my first mod, so feedback is welcome. Human Fortress overhauls vanilla humans to make them a viable and fun civilization for Fortress Mode. The aim is to preserve the dwarves’ top-dog status while giving humans their own unique style of play—less refined, more adaptable. Core Features: Two New Human Castes: Martial Humans – Enter martial trances in combat. Artificer Humans – Experience strange moods like dwarves. Each caste comprises ~10% of the human population and can "train" nearby baseline humans through proximity gas syndromes, simulating cultural transmission. Expanded Tech Tree: Access to steel, coke, and even adamantine. Overhauled Human Society: Adds a full hierarchy of positions, currently borrowed from dwarves (subject to change). Design Philosophy: Humans are still worse than dwarves—intentionally. But now they’re actually fun to play, with more depth and flavor. Think of them as clever, scrappy survivors with just enough ambition to claw toward the dwarves’ level, but in their own way. Notes: All additions are lore-friendly and lightweight. No dependencies. Safe to add to most world gens. |
