As forum post http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=123043.15 I had my queen arrive with her king consort who is a necromancer. He scares and is scared by my citizens, and of course raises the dead, but otherwise is normal and productive. I've got him stashed in a locked room off to the side of the trade depot.
