Spreadsheet showing results from firing iron bolts against bronze armor, compared with copper bolts vs. bronze armor. Bronze has a higher SHEAR_FRACTURE, but not SHEAR_YIELD, than iron. We know that either SHEAR_YIELD and/or SHEAR_FRACTURE must be greater than the projectile for an armor to deflect the projectile, but we were unsure if the deflection mechanism was different depending on which condition(s) were met. It appears so far that either is sufficient, and the deflection mechanism is the same.
