Description
Now 0.31.25 Compatible (SDL only)

Runesmith is currently undergoing a major update to work with the new DFHack system. This will probably take a while, please be patient

Runesmith is a Dwarf information viewing and editing tool inspired by the original Dwarf Companion. It uses the DFHack library to interface with Dwarf Fortress and Qt to provide a robust and professional looking cross-platform GUI. It allows you to easily view and edit various aspects of a Dwarf or Creature with the ability to export a choice of stats to either a CSV or XML for easy import into programs such as Microsoft Excel. Don't forget, if you like it, rate it :-D

Editable items currently include:
  • Happiness
  • Skills
  • Attributes
  • Labours (Multiple may be selected to be removed)
  • Traits
  • Mood (including mood skill and materials)
  • Position
  • Civilisation
  • A large collection of various creature flags, an example being Has mood and Had mood

Additional features include:
  • The ability to kill every creature of a certain race (Genocide)
  • Export to CSV or XML
  • The ability to set the main race that you are currently playing with for mods or adventure mode. This allows functions that would normally be restricted to Dwarves to be used in games where the playable race is not Dwarven
  • The ability to set all the attributes of all the creatures that are of the main race to a user specified value
  • The ability to set all the skills of all the creatures that are of the main race to a user specified value

"A tool that allows smithing (editing) of the digits and letters (runes) that control all life in DF. By smithing these runes, the metagods (players) can meddle with DF mortals to suit their games, be it recasting a soul into a new species body, blessing and cursing individuals or just to make predictions of when a mortal will attain the next degree of competence to guide them on how they should spend their limited time." - Psieye - (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=57003.msg1324765#msg1324765)

 Runesmith V0.1.8 (v 0.1.9 (Alpha))  » posted by knaveofstaves on Apr 16, 2011, 12:53:42 am
Thank you for putting this together, I'm getting a lot of use out of it. 5/5 stars!

I don't know if you prefer bug reports here or at the DF forums, apologies if this is the wrong place.

I am spelunking through the magic of traits and I believe your value representing the 25-39 range actually sends the dwarf into the 40-60 range.

I have here Tulon Asteshzulban, DF 0.31.21 Fortress Mode dwarf. Among her thoughts and preferences, she rarely feels discouraged, which Runesmith 0.1.9 reports correctly to start under Traits, and Dwarf Therapist 0.6.10 informs me is a Depression of 39. I set "Rarely feels discouraged" to itself in the Runesmith dropdown, write my changes, and Runesmith still shows it there on refresh, but no depression-associated thought/pref is shown in DF, and Therapist doesn't say anything either.

I have a dwarf in an un-runesmith'd 0.31.21 save which reports Adventure and Urge in Runesmith but not DF or Therapist, you're welcome to it if it'll help.

Thanks again for working on this project, I'd be at a loss without it.

it works for most other people... so your comment is misleading and mildly trolling

sorry, I should have said "it doesn't appear to work FOR ME." would that have been better?

is this still working or do I need to wait for new version? Get 'Couldn't find a suitable process' error now.
