In these early days of the world, long before the self-indulgent humans, the visionless elves, or the gibbering goblins were ever birthed out of the chaos, the dwarves exist already. They build their first mountain halls, drink their wine, and laugh together as they imagine feats of engineering both ingenious and deranged.

This ancient world, however, is unforgiving. The beasts that walk these lands are creatures within whom the tangle of creation remains unsettled, flaring into horrible and lethal forms. The most benign among them possess size and strength to render the feared monsters of the future eras into absurdities, and the most savage among them are nodes of destruction the likes of which will never be seen again.

In a world such as this the strength of a dwarf means nothing, but within the mind of the dwarf lurks the whispers of a power to recast the very bones of the planet into something of dwarven choosing.
